the skybox theory is something i've been cooking up and personally believe for the past few years. it is a mix of philosophical belief and conspiracy! it is up to you whether you believe it or not. it's not a fear tactic or some sort of delusion. also if this page sounds rambly it's cuz it is. despite the name, the skybox is only a partial aspect to this theory.
the skybox theory is a theory that everything in life is part of a videogame or an advanced simulation. but apart from other matric theories, there is no vr headset. there is no outside world we need to go to. the logic of the universe itself is made completely through rapidly advancing code. and if you were to try and break the barriers of physics itself, you would most likely die or enter a state beyond mortal comprehension as it breaks code barriers.
BACKSTORY
ever since i had gained consciousness (i.e. 4 years old) i've always thought the world was fake in some way. seeing my memories like a robot processing its surroundings, believing the world was a videogame, etc. at 14 i had my first glimpse into the skybox. a corner of the sky no one else but me sees. ofcourse i panicked and had a mental breakdown but that's besides the point. whether you believe this is all part of my schizophrenic delusion i VERY much believe this and you will NOT UNDERMINE MY ANALYSIS!!!!! >:-(

us as people | physics | the illusion of travel | barriers | bugs in the system |
i actually dont have a clue what we are. but i am leaning towards sentient npc. the implication of us as players implies the other people around us must be npcs and "not real". a player implies that it's possible for us to willfully break code and go to a "real world" but there is no real world. only different dimensions. we will never be fully aware of our reality, and even if this reality isn't real, the bonds we make are very much real in OUR universe.
>everything in the world, including ourselves, are essentially hollow. the illusion of solidity is created via the collision and barriers surrounding everything. cutting something in half does not make it solid. rather, it was planned in the code for you to cut saidd thing in half. physics itself is part of the code and you as a mortal cannot break that code.
the sky as we know it is actually a giant texture box scene in videogames to give the illusion of depths and distance. distant mountains, buildings, etc is all background texture. sure people have gone to outer space, you can reach those mountains, walk up to buildings, but how do you know that's just another part of the map?
the moment we are not focusing on our surroundings, that's when another map spawns in. the windows we look outside of, might aswell just be another image texture, made to give the illusion of travel. the planets we have reached, is just another map we were meant to explore.
you may think that if we have already explored space, then wouldnt we have reached the skybox? and the answer is; no. because like videogames, the skybox is never something we can reach. we can acknowledge the flatness of the sky, the galaxy, but we will never reach it.
every place in the world is a map that has been explored or waiting to be explored. but unlike something like flat earth theory, you are never truly able to reach the endge of the map and fall to your death. this is because there are invisible barriers set in place to either lock you out without you noticing or spawn you to another part of the map via the illusion of travel.
whether or not you believe in the paranormal, there are bound to be strange and unnerving occurences that cannot be explained. i believe these strange occurences come from bugs or errors in this reality's system. no matter what, computers will never be perfect and neither is our reality.
